Poking Around in Hidden Corners

Periodically at AcquaTroupe, we go back to World Oceans Arts' motto, Exploring (or Discovering) the Arts in Hidden Corners. Some of us love to research towns of less than a thousand people...to see whether the one motel is okay for a night, to ask whether there is a grocery store or a school, and to imagine daily life there. I lived in a very small town for a few years and I absolutely loved it! One important thing I learned, in retrospect as much as when I lived there, was that artistic genius and fresh creativity can exist anywhere. I learned that people can make miracles happen no matter where they are.

AcquaTroupe is excited because we are on the verge of descending upon small towns and huge cities all over the USA. In November we open in New York City, our first event there since the third Off Broadway production of Cafe Playa Moon several years ago. After we do shows in Atlanta and the Cleveland area over the winter and early spring, AcquaTroupe then descends on a plethora of hidden corners, mixed in with those giant cities where artistic happenings are abundant..

Personally, I look forward to the little cafes and the tiny wooded streams almost as much as I do to the oceans and big concert halls and festivals. In AcquaTroupe, there are a few words and expressions we simply do not allow ourselves to repeat for long. One is the word 'can't'.......but another is, 'There's nothing to do in.......'.  No town or hidden corner deserves that kind of negative dismissal. So if you live in a hidden corner where 'nothing is happening', get ready for a surprise. We just may pop into your tiny hamlet one day soon and rock your world.

Have you ever spent hours plowing through all the junk you never quite get cleaned out of your basement or attic, and suddenly found some hidden treasure you had almost forgotten about? That is one of the gems of our plans for touring and spreading the arts and celebrating all the ways people can express themselves artistically. AcquaTroupe is coming, people! Get ready to be discovered.......
